In short it puts an icon for your gmail account and your google calendar (you can choose whether you want both or just one of them shown) in your menubar in the right top corner of your screen. This way you always know if you have a mail or an appointment without opening a browser. Clicking the icon takes you directly to that specific mail/appointment without logging in each time. This little piece of software is not by any means big or impressive in size, but it does exactly what it is supposed to. Nothing more nothing less.
