hooray C++
it's called CrossOver, made by CodeWeavers. I don't really like the architecture with which the application was built. It basically creates so-called 'bottles' which are super-stripped mini operating systems which are modified to run the game.
I found that it only really works if you have an actual installer CD. When you put in the CD, CrossOver runs a wizard which creates a Bottle specific to your game, takes a while to create and install, and then even then the performance is less than stellar.
I mean it works, but, ehh. If you want to use an existing install, there may be a method to copy and paste into a bottle which you make CrossOver create, but I don't know the details of that process.
Simply put, there is yet to be released a simple, straightforward, reliable alternative to porting windows games. :(
i'll get it to you later :)
