Windows Error Reporting (WER) is a technology introduced by Microsoft with Windows XP and included in later versions and Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0. Based on the technology previously known as Dr. Watson, it provides post-error debug information (a memory dump) to the developer of an application that crashes or stops responding on a user's desktop. While Dr.Watson left the memory dump on the user's local machine for debugging, Windows Error Reporting offers to send the memory dump to Microsoft using the internet. No data is sent without the user's consent. When a dump (or other error signature information) reaches the Microsoft server, it is analyzed and a solution is sent back to the user when one is available. Solutions are served using Windows Error Reporting Responses. Windows Error Reporting runs as a Windows service and can optionally be entirely disabled. If Windows Error Reporting itself crashes, then an error reports that the original crashed process cannot be sent.

PeerCast (founded 2002) is an open source streaming media multicast tool. PeerCast uses peer to peer technology to minimize the necessary upload bandwidth for the original multicastor

Peercast can be used to multicast streaming audio (Ogg Vorbis, MP3, WMA) and/or video (Ogg Theora, Nullsoft Streaming Video, or WMV), or any other stream of data, over the internet. Peercast uses a distributed bandwidth technique to lighten the load of the broadcaster's upstream bandwidth where each listener/viewer will relay the stream they download to one or more additional listeners. Users may choose how many relays to allow, and if a listener sets their relays to '0', then they will essentially not contribute back to the stream at all.

The benefits of using PeerCast is that it allows any multicasters, particularly small or independent ones, to distribute their streams without need for much bandwidth, saving them costs. It also allows, theoretically, an infinite number of listeners as long as there are enough relays (see below).

jEdit is a mature, Java-based programmer's text editor with hundreds (counting the time developing plugins) of person-years of development behind it. While jEdit beats many expensive development tools for features and ease of use, it is released as free software with full source code, provided under the terms of the GPL 2.0. The core of jEdit was originally by Slava Pestov. Now the jEdit core, together with a large collection of plugins is maintained by a world-wide developer team.

This application has some well known bugs. Sometimes multiple instances are spawned and sometimes genredetection will restart iTunes each time iTunes quits. Use Activity Monitor to force quit the genredetection process or execute `killall genredetection` in a terminal.
