<text>It actually does work! You do need to tailor the speed of the words to the text, though.

Reading a scientific paper at 500 wpm is completely different from reading a simpel news post on some website... (I'd have to read a paper 5 times at 500 wpm to make sense of it...)</text>

      <description>What is iReadFast
iReadfast is a speed reading program which permits reading and comprehending any electronic text at a speed much faster than normal.

What it is useful for
iReadFast is useful to save time reading any text document:

    * It's easy to use and is always ready to accelerate the reading of e-mails, web pages and every text you deal with every day.
    * It is very useful for studying! for school, work and hobbies. You can use the valuable time saved to read the text again or read other texts to gain a better understanding.

How it works
iReadfast is based on well known principles already used by other speed reading software. In no time iReadFast unleashes the power of our brain freeing it from the tasks that limit reading speed. Our brain can focus on the comprehension of the text rather than deal with mechanical tasks like repositioning eyes from one word to the next and keeping track of the point you reached in the text. For more information click here.

Why it is different
The best way to discover it is to try both iReadFast and other speed reading programs: Search for &quot;speed reading&quot; with a search engine, you will find other programs like iReadFast. Download some trials and compare them, you will find that:

    * iReadFast is really easy and fast to use, so it is best for daily use.
    * It is compact and uses a small amount of system resources so you can keep it running and ready to use.
    * It uses the simple copy/paste operations for text input so it's nearly compatible with every text document format you can open with your Mac.
    * It is suited for use with a laptop because it is developed for minimum power requirements (CPU load) in every usage stage.

    <text>About Word 2008 for Mac:

Starting up takes ages.
Try scrolling in the Word window when another window has focus... doesn't work! Does work with most other OSX apps!

At the moment I'm only using this to read more complex .doc files, I'm much more comfortable doing my writing in Pages.</text>
