<text>Saving the world, one protein at a time. This is a great app because it lets you do something for the world, without actually doing anything at all. It will use a lot of processor cycles, but that's ok because it does so at a low priority, and you may have something to do with the next big cure. Everyone should be using the program.

What it actually does adds your processor to a parallel computing environment connected with everyone else who is running the app and Stanford's own computers and folds proteins, which takes a huge amount of processing power.</text>

<description>Folding@home (sometimes abbreviated as FAH or F@h) is a distributed computing (DC) project designed to perform computationally intensive simulations of protein folding and other molecular dynamics (MD). It was launched on October 1, 2000, and is currently managed by the Pande Group, within Stanford University's chemistry department, under the supervision of Professor Vijay Pande. Folding@home is the most powerful distributed computing cluster in the world, according to Guinness, and one of the world's largest distributed computing projects. The goal of the project is &quot;to understand protein folding, misfolding, and related diseases.&quot;</description>

<text>Great little application for monitoring you bandwidth. It has a small window that you can set anywhere you like. Has a lot of interesting functions, like being able to check your total downloads in the past day, week, month, etc. Not a resource hog, either.</text>
