Actually, that one isn't the official one. Someone else doctored/shopped it.

That's the original.
And it was the best one I could find at the time.
They're both official Facebook logos. The 3D one is better for thumbnails/icons.

The 3D icon is square, and when scaled down, it's still easier to tell what it is.
Doesn't really matter what we like better. The staff here wants us to use the most updated, official icon for the software/web app.
Also, using a icon for it that wasn't default on either Windows OS makes things more confusing...
It's not confusing, and it's its the latest icon for it. You wouldn't use the first icon ever created for it, would you?
