Ok, here is what I found out and how you can test if you actually need drivers for your vertical mouse:
Find someone with the 64-bit OS you plan on running, already installed and plug your mouse into their pc's USB port. If the mouse buttons all work without having to install any drivers, then it uses basic generic drivers provided by the OS to enable the additional buttons. (this is the case with 32-bit XP/Vista)
To test if the additional buttons work, open IE and go to any page and click a link on it. Then use the thumb & pinkie buttons to navigate back/forward. If you can change what page you are on with those 2 buttons in that way, then you don't need drivers.
If this is the case, then all you need is some utility that can configure the functions of those buttons. You can try X-Mouse Button Control. There is a 64-bit version and it's free. http://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/XMouseButtonControl.htm
Please make sure you read the whole page to know of any issues and how to work around them...there are a few, and the one related to Vista's UAC and programs running in Administrator mode is worth noting.
I thought I had read something on their site about 64-bit drivers being made available by a 3rd party, for a fee (like they do for mac drivers) Actually, I don't think you need any drivers for basic 3-button functionality, and you only need software for a standard 5 button mouse to set what the additional buttons do. You might be able to find some generic freeware software to do that. I'll look into it when I have some time and let you know what I find out.
I decided to add you because just like me, you have a great mouse that not that many people use. (Evoluent vertical mouse)

Maybe, but; do you know how much time you spend in the bathroom? THAT is a lot of time.
Thanks for the reciprocal adding.
