I just tried Windows Live Messenger. It's full of ads and I couldn't talk to anyone without getting their replies back in weird symbols. So I'm for Pidgin because it works for me. You can use Windows Live Messenger because that works for you.

I believe that is configured on the Windows Live website. I don't have that problem.

It is stable, have you seen the other reviews for it? You shouldn't judge a program on one faulty release.
I still don't know what you mean by people sending you junk and not being able to add contacts? I never get junk sent to me, and I can add contacts easily.

Yes, one of the Pidgin updates were stuffing up, but they were quick to fix the problem and release a more stable version.

As for it not allowing you to add contacts and people sending you random junk. I have no idea what your talking about?

If your just using MSN then Windows Live Messenger is fine, but Pidgin is really good with multiple accounts on a variety of different services, eg: MSN, Yahoo, GTalk, etc.
