Love Audible, am getting performances (Nigel Planer) that would be impossible
or hideously expensive to get any other way. But Oh My Gawd the downloading is
so stressful. I've had many failures (probably mostly my fault for actually
trying to do something else while I'm waiting for the burn to finish - so this
is totally about complaining how to burn to cd) but Audible support has always
allowed me to try again and again until I got it right.
I just hate the download and the wrangling with iTunes. I know they're
trying to keep me from going into the audiobook business, but jumpin'
Jehosophat! You download. You move it to a playlist. Highlight. Burn it. Yes, I
want to burn it. Yes, okay, it will have to go on more than one cd! Hoop after
hoop after hoop. GAH! And I only do this monthly so I have 30 days to forget
how it works. GAH! GAH! GAAAAAAH!
Been a long time listener to Audible books, and think it's great but still
has no downloader that works with my Ubuntu Linux machine. Latest two books: The
Physics of the Impossible, and Linked.

In this instance I will not complain about the DRM since Audible is making
such a massive effort to get audio of so many books that would never have it
otherwise. People are often very narrow minded in this regard.
Trying to download too many books at one time often results in one of the
downloads failing. I was frustrated that I couldn't get the download link to
work on the Audible web site until I stopped using Opera and tried it in
Internet Explorer. If you switch computers a lot the DRM will force you to email
or call technical support to get your licenses reset.

A download manager for Audible.com ... Really shouldn't be needed.

I'd rather not have to suffer the DRM-type nonsense, but I do enjoy Audible too.
I HATE that you can't tell it not to start up. But I love Audible. So it's just part of enjoying good audiobooks.
