as jamesdlow said, it's a background application. It's slightly annoying of
HP to do this and thankfully once I get my new cannon I won't have to deal with
it.

Not the best software, but it seems to do it's job. I must say, HP make great printers though.

Another utility that ships with HP Printers. Mine came with an HP OfficeJet J6480
