I use the free version. Good feature set. Up-to-date definitions. Monitors file access, malicious webware, IM file transfers, and e-mail. Also has an on-demand scanner. I can't say how good it is at removing infections, but seems to be pretty good at preventing them.
Absolutely the best Antivirus on the market. The last time I bought and Antivirus, it ended horribly just months later. I've been using Avast! for over 2 years now and I've never ever had a problem. It's not necessary, but a Firewall and/or Malware shield would be an awesome addition, but that might reduce the outstanding performance. Excellent piece of software.
