Changelog for version 4.0.224.0

More

Chromium is an open-source web browser project from Google, and a number of other contributors, that aims to build a safer, faster, and more stable way for all users to experience the web.

The resulting end-product is used to produce the closed-source 'Google Chrome;, as well as a set of Chromium-branded nightly builds.

This thing is fast. Browsing the web almost never slows to a crawl on Chromium, unlike with Firefox. The user interface gets out of the way so there is more screenspace for the website. And its tabbed browsing is simply the best I've ever seen—sandboxed, rearrangable, and with a dashboard as the default new tab screen.

But it does crash a lot and it isn't ready for extensions yet. So far every extension I've installed has crashed. Despite these faults, Chromium is still by far my favorite browser.

I love this browser! It does things so much faster! It doesn't take 3 seconds to open a tab anymore and it doesn't take Chrome 10 seconds to boot up.

Finally got sick of waiting for Firefox being so sluggish.

There are some nice touches to the chromium UI that I like a lot. For example the status bar only popping up in the corner when it has something to tell you.

Some thought has gone into this. Most of all, it responsive, a breath of fresh air after the cludge of firefox.

I have completely converted to Chromium on Ubuntu from Firefox. I said it, completely converted. This is hands down the fastest browser I have ever used and even with it being in extreme beta for Linux, it crashes at about the same frequency as Firefox used to. The only reason that I used to run AdBlock Plus on Firefox was to speed page loads by eliminating ads. In Chromium, you do not need AdBlock Plus to speed page loads, it is that fast. There is even a debate by the developers on while the Linux version feels so much faster than the other versions. You can read that here

This browser does one thing and it does it extremely fast. It browses the web, period.
