Today it's also possible to visit the site trough: http://www.gmail.com, although it redirects still to mail.google.com
It also can be used as a SaaS-webmail for your domain with help of Google Apps.

The simplest and greatest e-mail service website ever. Customizable, compacted with a chat, contact-savable, and still fast and bulky. There is like 8 GB of space for each e-mail account to use up... no need to fear cluttered up inboxs ever again.
Simple, all i could need on an email service.

If i don't delete my mails i can sort them out into:
Spam,Bin/Rubbish,Inbox,(Any tags you make aswell!)

I wish I knew how to get more people to use gMail. There a a couple people in my org that are still on exchange - and they complain about the gMail synchronizing - and I want to say:"Use the web client - it's better"
