The Chrome browser is fantastic for one reason: speed. The speed and performance is superior to any other current browser. And the bookmark sync is more practical than using other common bookmark tools.

But it's not without some downsides. There is currently no plugin support, although that will change. There's also not a good or stable Mac client. Because it's a new browser it's not supported by many sites, but it often seems to work regardless.

This has got to be the fastest web browser out there (OTB). Although FireFox can be configured to run much faster (about:config), Chrome is the best browser to install on a new machine, or for someone that isn't very tech savvy.

Can't wait for Chrome OS (although that Indian dude in the introduction at youtube.com/google is kind of a douche)

I was an Opera addicted for a pretty long time and completely switched to Chrome. My review will include a lot of comparison with Opera.

Features: The address bar is pretty useful when you get used to it, and, though its a bit more difficult to set up, the custom searches work just like they do on Opera. Bookmark manager is simple but gets the job done, and you just need a Google account to keep it synced. Download manager is minimalist but I can't complain about it (its only downside is the fact it shows images saved as downloads and it is really annoying). Chrome is now getting pretty good extensions support, and the extensions available are very nice, like e-mail, feeds, social network checkers, the famous AdBlock and the excellent LastPass, which puts Opera Wand in the shame. I am in hope for a good Google Notebook extension, or even an integration out-of-the-box, this replacing Notes. Finally, I thought I'd miss SpeedDial, but the way the home page was build is surprisingly effective and keeps my favorite sites at hand.

Interface: Chrome uses a minimal approach to interface. It is very clean, remaining very useful and easy to use, but the color schemes isn't the prettiest. There are a few themes to change it, but nothing really sleek or attractive. I miss a tiny bookmarks button. I don't want to add a whole bookmarks strip, and it's really annoying to open a new tab when I want to open a bookmark.

Performance: Chrome is a fast and stable browser with a minimal interface. Its rendering engine is pretty good and it scores 100/100 on Acid3 test. Plus, it is notably one of the fastest browser on javascript benchmarks. It is a little bit low at the first, cold start. Memory management is actually good, and I guess the memory footprint is lower than Opera's.

All in all, it's an excellent browser that really matured in its first year of life, and has a lot of potential yet to grow. Higly recommended, and it's worth the switch from whatever browser you're currently using (IE, Firefox, Safari or Opera).

used to only use Firefox, but its gone a bit downhill, it is slow and unresponsive, and Chrome is lightweight and easy to customise!
