Changelog for version 6.0

More

mIRC is a shareware Internet Relay Chat client for Windows, created in 1995 and developed by Khaled Mardam-Bey. Although it is a fully functional chat utility, its integrated scripting language makes it extensible and versatile.

mIRC is very popular, having been downloaded almost nine million times from CNET's download.com service as of March 2007. Nielsen Net Rankings also ranked mIRC among the top 10 most popular Internet applications in 2003.

The chat client is shareware, but you can still use it after 30 days.

Best IRC-client for Windows. Only minus is the registeration-dialog that pops up unless you buy a key.

It's good and since it was the first client I've ever used, I got too used to it and strayed from X-Chat. Only for Windows, though. lul

In terms of features, and performance, and Interface, I absolutely love mIRC.

I gave Interface a 4, because although it may be an interface that provides a lot of power, its not exactly the most user-friendly for new users, which is why I don't immediately recommend it to people who are new to IRC.

I give PRice/Value a 4. It is worth the $20 to get a mIRC license because its a great client, and supporting the developer is a great thing, but it also gets rid of the alerts when you start up mIRC, even though you are allowed to use it past the 30 days. The reason I knocked Price/value down one, is there are open source clients that can do a lot of the same things, without bugging you to register.

Kuddos to Mr. Mardam-Bey for making one of the best and longest-lasting IRC clients for Windows. I've used it since v6 and have no complaints. The only thing I don't really like is the fact that you need to write a script to connect to multiple servers at startup. Otherwise, it's the best IRC client I've used in Windows.

Best IRC client there is. Easy to learn scripting language. Multiple server. I'm connected 24/7 with it :).
