I'm using the 2010 Beta version because it's free - it works great and I love it! Better than OpenOffice and free, why not use it?

I concur, it's too expensive, but is a greeat editor.

Necessary for where I work, but unreliable. The latest version isn't as crashy as it used to be, but still not great. The ribbon interface is a welcome improvement. Word auto-formatting is still a tool of the devil and fighting with it, as well as the occasionally unpredictable behavior of styles makes me choke on my own rage.

Also, Office is way too expensive.

I use Word for mac and it could be soo much better... It kills me that it runs so slowly and i have had countless issues with it freezing as it saves my stuff, causing me to lose anything i've recently written. On the plus side, however, I especially like the note taking application, and the use of the microphone, even though it needs improvement...

Pretty useful. Can't use it for HTML easily without it complaining about everything... It also becomes a bit bothersome if you're writing fiction and using proper nouns it isn't familiar with. The thesaurus and dictionary are real life savers though, the only reason I don't switch back to Open Office again; they're accessible with no more than a right click in Word.

There really is nothing better. I love the new Ribbon interface. It is vastly better than the old toolbar system (which most software uses).

    Office needs to be cheaper.

Let's just say that Word is a great text processor, but completely outclassed by the Mac Pages. I still use Word for most educational essays and reports, but Pages is still the supreme ruler in terms of overall usage and feel.
