<text>the syntax-highlighting is set to some strange fonts via default (comments are not in the same character-width like everything else) and there are a lot settings for text-encoding, breaking-chars and makros you will need to adjust before you really can start to work with it...

Notepad++ is a free, open source (GPL) source code editor which supports several programming languages running under the Microsoft Windows environment. Notepad++ is hosted on SourceForge.net, from where it has been downloaded over eight million times.

Notepad++ supports syntax highlighting for 44 programming, scripting, and markup languages. Users can also define their own language by using the built-in User Language Define System, which makes Notepad++ extendable, to have syntax highlighting and syntax folding.

This project, based on the Scintilla editor component, is written in C++ with pure Win32 API calls and uses STL. Notepad++ is licensed under the GPL Licence. The aim of Notepad++ is to offer a slim and efficient binary with a totally customizable GUI.

Notepad++ is available only for the Microsoft Windows operating system. However, users can still get Notepad++ to work on other platforms, like Linux and Mac OS X, using software such as Wine.

<text>if you like being a nerd, you have to use vi/vim...
The learning-curve is horribly and you will need weeks of customisation and configurations, but if you undergo this and some years of learning it will be the fastest editing-experience ever.

The problem is: is this speed-up worth all the hastle? I dont know... really!</text>

Vim, which stands for Vi IMproved, is an open source, multiplatform text editor extended from vi. It was first released by Bram Moolenaar in 1991. Since then, numerous features have been added to Vim, many of which are helpful in editing program source code. Vim and vi are very popular editors for programmers and users of Unix-like operating systems.[1]

Compressing-Program, used for storing large files on small space (like rar, zip or 7z).
NanoZip is pretty fast at compressing, and shrinks down the data much better then common Software like WinRAR or WinACE. Decompression is a bit slow.
NanoZip is an extremly experimental Alpha-Version, so at the moment no files bigger then ~130MB can be archived and there are not many features implemented.
