<text>Espresso is going to be the next hot text editor on the Mac platform. It has a few beta-type issues but has a lot going for it. I love the tabless interface, and think most apps using tabs should go to something like this. It's easier to see which documents you are currently working on while still being able to access any files in that project on the fly. I also love the support for additional languages (although the packs aren't perfect yet) which really puts this program not only as a Coda replacement, but a general text editor replacement also. It lacks the power features of something like TextMate (right now), but for web development and programming, this has become my new full time editor.

One other feature that Coda needs to adopt ASAP is the support for multiple servers in a project.</text>

<text>It's better than the default burning options you get built into Mac OS. I tend to have to burn slower or I will get more errors than on something like Toast, but for free, this is the best option. No frills, but handles video, music, data, and disk images.</text>

<description>There are a lot of ways to approach burning discs. Burn keeps it simple, but still offers a lot of advanced options.

Create data discs with advanced data settings like, file permissions, the disc icon, file dates and more on the fly. Create video and audio discs without worrying about conversion. Create your personalized DVD-Video discs using themes. Recreate discs and disc images you all ready have.

Burn doesn't reinvent the wheel, it uses many powerful open source Unix utilities and is also open source.</description>

<text>I wish it was a little better in terms of capability for things like programming, but just in terms of pure word processing, Word 2007 is a giant leap forward in both function and design. I'm curious to see what MS has up its sleeve for the Mac version of Office 2008.

And is it too much to ask to have robust support for things like TeX and ODF? Get your crap together Microsoft and stop trying to make everything proprietary. MS &quot;Open&quot; format was rightfully rejected by ISO (it's not even freaking compatible with the standard!)</text>

<description>Microsoft Office Word is Microsoft's flagship word processing software. It was first released in 1983 under the name Multi-Tool Word for Xenix systems. It is a component of the Microsoft Office system; however, it is also sold as a standalone product.

The latest Windows release is Word 2010 (in public beta stage). The latest Mac OS X release is Word 2008. </description>

<text>Boy after using the brilliant Keynote for a few months, going back to PowerPoint is like being kicked in the genitals repeatedly. Yeah it's the standard, but the usability sucks and adding flash and animation to your presentation is terribly difficult compared to Keynote's svelte workflow. A necessary evil and the worst product in the overall greatly improved Office 2007 suite.</text>

<text>Mac version is great, but like all Apple software for Windows, works terribly on the PC side. It's not that hard to develop for freaking Windows, I know they want people to buy Macs, but can you please increase the stability a little bit? Anyway, on the Mac side, this is THE audio player and library manager. For free you get a ton of tools and tagging options and just a great interface all around.

On Windows, WMP11 is simply better. It misses some of the ease of use options that iTunes has, but also has a more robust tagging system (sometimes iTunes tags songs in such a way that other players have a hard time reading them, I never see that with WMP).</text>

<description>The Longest Journey (Den lengste reisen) is a point-and-click adventure game developed by Norwegian studio Funcom for the PC. First published by IQ Media Nordic in Norway in 1999, it was later localized for and released in France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, Canada, Spain, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Poland, Czech Republic, Russia, and the United States.

The game takes place in the parallel universes of Arcadia, a world of magic, and Stark, a world of science and technology. Players take on the role of April Ryan, who is called upon to restore the now unstable boundary between the two worlds.

The Longest Journey features a minimalist user interface, and places the majority of its focus on storytelling. Its use of both fantasy and science fiction elements broadened its appeal and helped to generate widespread interest in the game among the mainstream gaming audience at a time when adventure games were increasingly being forced to compete with the growth of the action and strategy genres.

The game drew praise from critics for the quality of its localizations (having been translated from Norwegian into ten different languages), but was criticized for having what some regarded as an excessive amount of dialogue (the game features almost 8,300 individual voice samples).

A sequel, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, was released on April 20, 2006.</description>

<text>Parallels was the first dog in the race in terms of virtualization of Windows on the Mac platform, and still is the most robust and generally best solution. VMWare, the masters of virtualization, have entered the market with a great product called Fusion that will only serve to push both programs to new heights of excellence. VMWare tends to boot faster and is a little easier on OSX when you give your virtual machine half your RAM, but Parallels comes with the excellent Transporter program where you can move an entire Windows install to Parallels and a more robust tool set in general. Fusion is good too, but Parallels wins for power users right now because of the more robust toolset and interoperability with OSX.</text>
