<text>This is a great standards compliant web browser that allows all kinds of extensions. While it isn't the fastest at rendering JavaScript, the plugin capabilities enable a plethora of features for just about any browser task. However, I would recommend not installing too many plugins at one time, or you may experience performance issues.</text>

Mozilla Firefox is a free and open source web browser descended from the Mozilla Application Suite, managed by the Mozilla Corporation. Firefox had 24.07% of the recorded usage share of web browsers as of October 2009, making it the second-most popular browser worldwide, after Internet Explorer, which is the factory default browser on all Windows computers.

In 5 months, Firefox has gathered steam and now owns more than 25% of usage share of web browsers closing the gap between it and IE.

To display web pages, Firefox uses the Gecko layout engine, which implements some current web standards plus a few features which are intended to anticipate likely additions to the standards.

Firefox includes tabbed browsing, a spell checker, incremental find, live bookmarking, a download manager, and an integrated search system that uses the user's desired search engine. Functions can be added through add-ons created by third-party developers, the most popular of which include Adblock Plus, Video DownloadHelper, NoScript, Personas, FlashGot, and Greasemonkey, along with many others.

Firefox runs on various versions of Microsoft Windows (version 3.5 supports Windows Vista and XP; although not officially supported as of November 2009, Firefox is compatible with Windows 7), Mac OS X (10.4 or later officially supported), most Linux distributions, and many other Unix-like operating systems.

Its current stable release branch is version 3.5, first released on June 30th, 2009. Firefox's source code is free software, released under a tri-license of GPL/LGPL/MPL.

<text>I am under the impression that Wakoopa picks this application up when your system activates a power saving feature (I.E. turns on/off the screen, goes to sleep, or shuts down.) I believe most of my activity of this nature is from my netbook, however I also use a gadget to disable PPM, which I believe Wakoopa is reading as using PPM.</text>

YaKuake is inspired from the terminal in the Quake game: when you press a key (by default F12, but that can be changed) a terminal window slides down from the top of the screen. Press the key again, and the terminal slides back.

It is faster than a keyboard shortcut because it is already loaded into memory and as such is very useful to anyone who frequently finds themselves switching in and out of terminal sessions.

Nautilus is the official file manager for the GNOME desktop. Browse directories, preview files and launch applications associated with them. Is responsible for handling the icons on the GNOME desktop. It works on local and remote filesystems.

Several icon themes and components for viewing different kinds of files are available in separate packages.
With tabbed file browsing it makes for a simple file manager with minimal windows cluttering your desktop space.

This is gpaint (GNU Paint), a small-scale painting program for GNOME, the GNU Desktop Environment. gpaint does not attempt to compete with GIMP, it is just a simple drawing package based on xpaint, along the lines of 'Paintbrush' from a popular non-free operating system.

Currently gpaint has the following features: * Drawing tools such as ovals, freehand, polygon and text, with fill or shadow for polygons and closed freehand shapes. * Cut and paste by selecting irregular regions or polygons. * Preliminary print support using gnome-print. * Modern, ease-to-use user interface with tool and color palettes. * Multiple-image editing in a single instance of the program. * All the image processing features present in xpaint.

<text>This tool causes a great amount of thrashing on my HDD. It slows system performance considerably on both XP and Vista, however Vista is less apparent. I would recommend organizing your files so you only have to index a small portion of your hard drive, and storing your files on a separate drive from the operating system. This will drastically increase your performance.</text>
