Think this has something to do with There's installer
I dont think the original XP version did PNG but somehow that format got into it.. I tend to use PS Elements in lieu of PS for actual graphic editing due to cost (and im not doing page seps, when i was doing that id just export/import stuff into a full copy of PS.. Adobe's tax is a bit steep for casual use... There are times when i want to white out something in a screenshot and or a quick markup, and Paint really sucks for that.. though the vista version is a little better than XP, and the freeware remake of it, actually is a decent app on its own right.. just wish more people knew about it, like any other really well done freeware
I've just received my license key this morning. For a tool I use daily 100$ is not that much, especially since it now is about 70€. Adobe products cost a lot more and I use them less extensive.
Last year I also decided to go and pay the money for a good FTP client (FlashFXP), MySQL tool (SQLyog) and editor/IDE (Komodo). All together it still is cheaper then a single Adobe product, and it saves my hours every week!
As a web developer I use Paint mainly for enlarging and measuring screen prints, which can be saved to PNG as well. For all other graphic work I use Photoshop.
Yeah the price is the issue with it.. But if you need it, you need it.. I tend to prefer the more low-cost options but I ended up using this when I was in school/cheaper..
Thanks for your suggestion. SecureCRT does seem to be a good alternative for Putty, although it costs a bit... I've been testing it for a couple of days now. It solves most of the issues I have with PuTTY.
