<text>Easier to use than Finale, and it doesn't contain more features than absolutely necessary. But it's basically a Windows 3.1 program that's been ported to support Windows 9x+. It's so buggy that it's not even funny: for instance, when I run it on XP and Vista, I get a Windows error message every single time I close it, saying that the program has crashed, even though nothing appears to have failed and all data is still intact. Compatibility mode doesn't help either.</text>

<description>Basic music notation and MIDI file editor for Windows and Mac. MusicTime Deluxe is GVOX's entry-level scorewriter, behind Encore. Its note entry is similar to that found in products such as Finale and MuseScore, being both toolbar and MIDI based. Other MIDI features include the ability to open, edit, and save MIDI files, convert native files to MIDI, and change staves' playback instruments and parameters.</description>

<text>Quite a neat program, and far more functional (though bloated) than, say, the Mozilla Suite (now Seamonkey). And since we're paying for this, shouldn't it also have tabs? The interface sort of resembles the Slate placeholder-theme from the Vista alphas, so it looks slightly outdated and this only adds to the cheese factor -- especially when MSN 7.5, which used a similar colour scheme, has turned into the very-attractive WLM 8.5. Microsoft, you're still making money off this program. Don't let it stagnate.</text>

<description>MSN Explorer is a web browser, developed by Microsoft, that integrates MSN and Windows Live features such as Windows Live Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger with a web browser. To make use of these services requires a Windows Live ID (formerly known as a Microsoft Passport or .NET Passport). Version 6 of MSN Explorer is built into Windows XP. Version 7 was released at the same time on Windows XP. MSN 8 and 9 were released in 2002 and 2004 respectively.</description>

Useful stuff though, so open it manually when needed. And then be sure to exit it from its notification area icon, or better yet, kill it via Task Manager.</text>

<description>HP total care advisor is a set of tools that comes with newer HP computers. Although using a lot of RAM, this program is great for BIOS updates and computer stats. Including a full set of tools and running the occasionel test to make sure it all works right, HP Total Care Advisor is a keeper, but only boot it when you need it!</description>

<text>Yeah, this is a sweet app. Makes life so much easier.

Note to enrique: Firefox's cache is disabled by default for a reason -- to reduce flash drive wear from all the disk reads and writes that would occur with a cache. Plus, it saves disk space. If you want, you can go into Options and re-enable it, though it's not recommended.</text>

<text>This is otherwise known as UAC -- User Account Control. You know, on Vista, when the screen goes black and you have to give approval. Slightly annoying, but it's worth it.

Oh, and despite reports and commercials that say otherwise, a feature similar to this has been in Mac OS and Linux variants for years.</text>

<description>Desktop Window Manager (DWM, previously Desktop Compositing Engine or DCE) is a compositing window manager, introduced with Windows Vista, that enables the Windows Aero graphical user interface and visual theme. The Desktop Window Manager requires graphics cards supporting DirectX 9.0 and Shader Model 2.0. DWM is not included with Windows Vista Starter edition. It is included with Windows Vista Home Basic edition, but with some aspects of the Windows Aero interface (such as Glass and Flip 3D) disabled. It is also included with Windows Server 2008, but requires the &quot;Desktop Experience&quot; feature and compatible graphics drivers to be installed.</description>
