It have clean interface and support themes. Amount of storage space is huge and much more than enough for me. Moreover Google periodically updates it's with new features. There are also Greasmonkey scripts that give GMail additional functionality. There are some applications which can convert a GMail storage to a backup storage. GMail also has a good Contacts manager.
