IE7's the only memory hog i see. I'm not entirely sure who was first with the tabs and plugins, but I'm positive Firefox had tabs and plugins before IE. If you wanted tabs on IE you had to get a toolbar or something.
so i hear that shit's chock full of malware...is it?
I tried out IE7 pro to see what you were talking about. "Save Page to Image" is pretty unique and cool although I can accomplish the same thing with my screenshot app. Still a nice add on when I HAVE to open IE. I left it installed.
I went through its list of features and I'm not exaggerating when I say literally everything else it does is already integrated into Opera, except for Web Accelerator (Operas still faster), User Agent Switcher?? Webpage Capturer and MiniDM?? If you could be more specific on what features you like about it I'm sure I can point to similiar functionality already built in to Opera. I could also make a long list of stuff this doesn't yet do that Opera does, but I won't.
Stop using IE, install Opera. It's embarassing, seriously.
