Very expensive program for what it does. Very useful for websites wanting to provide dynamic content, as well as people who want to make animated videos.

Have been developing with Flash since 2000, and I can't do without it. Interface of CS4 is much better than earlier versions. App seems quite stable, I haven't had much problems with it. Am now developing in Actionscript 3 and AIR, and the layout with tabs is perfect for that. Overall, I think a mature app.

Just as good as I remember it to be back when I used it. I still use it now and then to make quick points without having to do too much work, visuals to explain what I mean with certain things.

Very useful to have, but seeing the price..As a Student I cannot afford it so I go by trials.

Still doing AS2, I love Flash it gives me a fuzzy feeling, maybe because it has been years of getting familiar with it.
Is there anything out there than can be used to compared with? ToonBoom maybe? It is an excellent tool to teach programming to Designers, a difficult task always :)
Funny that Flash has detractors everywhere, you only need to Type FL..amd a horde of forum contributors will jump at you (unless you are in a Flash forum of course)and will try to exorsice you from it. The reason for so much resistance is that Flash offers both, the programmer and designer with a vast set of tools and they both reign over opposite realms. the old struggle, Designer VS Programmer. Each powerfull in Photoshop or Java, but in Flash...they must meet and show their shortcomings and found themselves vulnerable beings. Designers cannot do long division and Programmers cann't mix two colours to save their lives. so Flash is that middle battleground :)

Use it only for creating SWC assets (animation and UI) - while on free trial.
    Reason? Price.
    For scripting - FlashDevelop.

great software for starting animators and programmers.

i personally use flash for programming flash games.
i worked both with actionscript2 and actionscript3 in flash.
i'll just explain the little difereces AS2 and AS3 have

    actionscript2:
created by macromedia to ad extra programming options to flash (compared to actionscript1). actionscript2 is a little bit easyer than actionscript3. but its also full of inconsistency and programming clutter. AS2 trys to help out the programmer to ad lots of functions to every script. but you don't use 90% of the features witch are provided. your computer still have to calculate all those unused functions and drag down overall performance. still AS2 offers lots of functionality and is the programming language who tough me how to be a programmer.

    actionscript3:
created by adobe after they bought out Macromedia. AS3 does have lots of consistency and some programmers even call it one of the cleanest and best written programming language. it doesn't add any clutter to the SWF files, but that comes with a prize. actionscrip3 is very strict. if you forgot to import some standard code, it wont work. but compared to actionscript2, actionscript3 is between 10 and 100 times faster to execute.

    for all the AS2 programmers:
learning AS3 is a must. because AS3 can handle so many features and runs so much faster, and of course every buddy is looking for AS3 programmers. lots of thing have changed in the new version. I personally did have lots of trouble adapting to AS3 but after a few months I really enjoyed it.

if any buddy does have some questions about flash programming or comments. just send me a pm.
