The 15th most popular editor on Windows
Adobe Soundbooth is a digital audio editor by Adobe Systems for Mac OS X and Windows XP and Vista. Adobe has described it as being 'in the spirit of Sound Edit 16 and Cool Edit 2000'. Soundbooth is not replacing Adobe Audition, rather creating a product for creative professionals who do not specialize in audio. Audition will still be available for audio professionals, and will continue to be developed. Due to Intel-specific code, Adobe has stated that the Mac OS X version will only be available for machines using Intel processors.… More Edit

Originally I didn't like Soundbooth. I have been a long time user of Apple Logic Express on the Mac and Adobe Audition on Windows. However, I have to say, I was working on a project and didn't have Logic Express installed on my laptop and I wasn't at my office. I did, however, have the full version of the Adobe Creative Suite 4 installed. So, I opened Soundbooth thinking to myself "hopefully I'll be able to figure this out enough to get through this project, or at least get some work done." Honestly, Soundbooth shaved about 2 hours off of the time it would have taken me to complete this project in Logic Express. For simple audio editing/cropping tasks, there isn't a better solution if you ask me. The fact that it's cross platform is even better.
I use it for podcasting (recording and editing). I think Soundbooth was made for it.
Sets out to be "audio for video guys" and accomplishes it. Very simple interface allows for recording, trimming, scoring, what have you.
My favourite sound editor at the time. I especially like the beat recognizing feature, even if it fails on some songs. Like most Adobe products, though, it is relatively expensive.
It is good for basic editing of sound files.
