Anyone who has issues with AIM (or even if you dont), try using www.meebo.com. No DL required,
minimal (hide able) ads, and if you prefer you can also log into MSN Messenger,
Yahoo! Messenger, MySpace IM, Google Talk, ICQ, Jabber, Flixster, Wadja, Zorpia,
and comming soon... FaceBook Messenger.
I don't like the ads and it seems to take up a lot of memory. I had to get
more RAM for it to run "smoothly." I still think the older versions
were better than the current version. The only thing that keeps me with AIM are
the tabs. I couldn't stand IMing 10+ people without tabs.
I've tried other IM clients but have always returned back to AIM because more
people use AIM here. I also use MSN occassionally.
Not the most reliable client, or the most secure. Also not feature-rich or
attractive. In fact, there's not much I can say about AIM at all...
But what it lacks in features, it makes up for in popularity. Most
everyone I know personally uses AIM as well.
BOY! Was I skeptical at first. I haven't used AIM in year, I have always been
an iChat user, and yes, when I first installed, I am like "What in the hell
is this crap?". Ads everywhere, plugins, etc. But I downloaded AIM 6.9 Beta
2 and then downloaded then Ad Hack and removed all the pointless stuff. To be
honest, it's actually a "working" program now.
I find it amazing that pidgin has a higher rating than the offical software.
But, I have used AIM a few times, and I felt that it thougth it was too
importnat. It used up too much memory ,but video chat was nice. The ads are
annoying though.
useless
i've been using AIM for the last 9 years.
I'm using latest verson of AIM with an ad-disable hack. Good piece of software without the lame ads and certain features turned off..
:)
Its so dull.
Version 5.5.3595 with DeadAIM 4.5 = Win
I still haven't found Digsby nore Pidgen to deliver the win these two produce.
great new interface, could stand to use some simpler webcam functionality; but other than that, its ok.

I use this all the time. Just wish there wasnt those stupid little web-ads at the top of the window.
