The most popular configurator on Linux

Avant Window Navigator (AWN/Awn) is a dock-like navigation bar for the linux desktop that positions itself at the bottom of the screen. It can be used to keep track of open windows and behaves like a normal window list. Edit

I like this dock, but sometimes it's a bit too unstable for me (don't know if it's a problem with my laptop or AWN itself), but it looks great.
Now and then I use it to impress friends with the eyecandy.

AWN is nice on Ubuntu, and I particulary like the Notification Deamon.

I like the Spotlight Icon Effect, it looks like apps are coming through a portal. Hahaha. =]

AWN Very much resembles OSX's dock. Nice collection of widgets. However, terminal widget is no replacement for YAKuake or its brethren though, and System monitor widget is awful compared to GNOME's system monitor. Still a very nice utility indeed.

Have been using the AWN Dock on Ubuntu from a few weeks. Itz a Nifty tool and works well. But has quite a few BUGS, which annoy on a regular basis. Morover it requirs Compiz installed an also a Graphics card with 3D capabilities. Through the bugs and other annoyance's this tool really is similar to OS X Dock and gives almost the same functionality. The only limitation being dat the Applications Cannot be Pinned to the Dock as in OS X.

Generally this works well but has some annoying bugs. The worse being that it occasionally won't autohide until you scroll over all the shortcuts on the task bar or click on an application that wants your attention whether you want to go to the app or not. It also occasionally auto-hides and won't 'pop up again.' When you close and reopen it, only the options window runs. Will probably replace it when and if I find anything better to do the job.

OS X like dock only prettier and more customisable. Just the ticket to add utility and eye candy to your desktop.
