I've been using the Free Edition for about five years now and it still rocks.
Windows Vista is pretty secure and all, but it doesn't come with any kind of
anti-virus protection. So remember kids, if you don't want your computer to get
the web AIDS, you must install and continuously update anti-virus software.
What I really like about AVG free is how small and simplistic it is. It has a
faster response time to any viruses encountered as a pose to programs like
Norton and Avast because its interface is so intuitive that it doesn't take ages
to load a popup telling you that you have a virus, unlike the resource intensive
programs like Norton. Instead of having loads of popups when you boot up your
computing showing advertisements and telling you that you have to pay to
continue using the program soon, like Norton, AVG loads quickly because it is
small and only shows a neat little square icon in the taskbar.
Having windows firewall and AVG running on my computer (only those two things
in the background), I havn't had a single virus in years! I also run a few
checks every week using Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware SE (both free programs, to
search for spyware and adware) and all you need is these three programs to
guarantee your stuff on your computer is kept safe. Trust me, it's the best out
there and I would recommend it to ANYONE!
