Buggy if you have 30+ programmes downloaded, and would be good if I could sort TV programmes by expiry. Otherwise I really like this on the Mac, it works fairly well.
Ack, bloaty and buggy.
this is brilliant! i am glad BBC still have it and its a shame that 4oD got rid of theirs!
The best tv download service available, imo
Would be great if you could subscribe to tv shows and t downloaded automatically
Very handy when you miss a program on the bbc and want to watch it when it suits you.
Useful for downloading/watching BBC programs from a computer, however, I find the interface too clunky and the options too few.
It's great that it allows for BBC HD downloads though.
find the new mp4 format that iplayer desktop use means the programs have stuttery graphics and the vocals don't sync properly. use the more downloads and choose the wmp option programs then play in media player and last for 30 days not the 7 iplayer desktop gives u
Free and you get to watch bbc programs you have missed. Uses peer to peer file tech.
It looks like the Linux version of this (installed to "/opt/BBC iPlayer Desktop" is not being tracked at all, or if it is, it's being tracked as Twhirl for some unknown reason. I remember it being tracked correctly during the beta.
Is ok at best
This move over may kill iplayer, the new desktop no longer will do peer to peer, which mean you are downloading from the main site, making download time longer and the files are even bigger with the new HD setup.
So if 10 people are downloading the same program at the same time, you could be getting your download in 4 to 6 hours if you are lucky?
Not a wise move by the makers of iplayer, it’s going to be like we are all on dial up again, why they took a step backwards I don’t know?
Seems very buggy to me - Not overly impressed
I've deleted this and gone back to the BBC iPlayer Download Manager as this won't let me use WMC to play the files, which are now MPEG-4. Boo :-(
Not much of a mac feel then again its hard to do in air. Nice
Really like BBC iPlayer really easy UI, but shame you can only download the latest episode but you can watch earlier episodes on the site. Love it in AIR
