BearShare is a peer-to-peer file sharing application originally created by Free Peers, Inc. for Microsoft Windows, and is now sold by MusicLab, LLC. The original versions used the Gnutella network, MusicLab released BearShare v6, which does not use the Gnutella protocol at all, but instead operates on the same network as the iMesh client. Three variations of BearShare were distributed by Free Peers: Free, Lite and Pro. The Free version had more features than the Lite version, but also contained some malware by WhenU. I used it years ago, it was crap then and is still crap. Limewire is better, BearShare is just asking for trouble.

## WARNING, SCAM APPLICATION ##
For those of you still using BearShare, or considering using it be warned you are not using BearShare originally developed by Free Peers, Inc. This application has been taken over by Musiclab, LLC (Discordia Ltd). This company has known connections to the (SPPF) Société Civile des Producteurs de Phonogrammes en France, which is the French equivalent to the RIAA. It should be presumed that records of what users are downloading with BearShare along with your IP address are being sent to the SPPF and shared with music and film industry associations around the world which may result in your prosecution if you are found to be downloading media illegally.
This all came to light when Musiclab, LLC (Discordia Ltd) took control of the domain name shareaza*com for another P2P application, Shareaza. The Shareaza development team are fighting this. Awsome Fast and Simple Interface.No adware like the original version. Fast downloads and iTunes Syncronization. AWSOME!
Bearshare is really good i find everything i want with it!But you must use this version of course and not the crappy legal version.
