I use bit.ly for sharing url on twitter and FB and it helps me a lot with analysis, a very useful and innovative.
Seems to be the most useful shortener on the net as of now.
Simple, useful tool!
bit.ly is great, not just because it offers short URLs (you can get them almost anywhere now), but because it provides detailed and real time statistics.

Official twitter shortner... no worries
This is the URL shortener I use with twitter/identica/laconica. It's open-source an has tracking abilities so I can see how many have visited the URL's I have shortened.
