Borderlands breaks the mold of traditional first-person action titles by successfully integrating a strong shooter with the stats-based character building and looting of action RPGs. The graphics have a unique style and performance is excellent. On the PC, the game is somewhat marred by finicky network code, poor voip support, and an interface optimized more for game controllers than the mouse. However, since it is based on Unreal Engine 3, it is easily tweaked to fit your preferences. The co-op works best if you have friends you already know; I don't recommend public co-op games. However, even single player is a lot of fun and you're sure to get lots of playtime out of it. With its unique graphical style, infinitely variable weaponry, and 4-player cooperative play, this is definitely a game to check out if you're interested in something different in a first-person shooter. The game would move from good to great if it supported a few more extra features like migrating profiles and better matchmaking, but it's still an excellent experience.

Addictive FPS/RPS, nice graphics, nice gameplay.

Can be a little repetitive but the guns are so nice! You want to keep playing to get better guns!

Awesome game.

Game is very fun. They integrate the elements of an RPG very well with the elements of a FPS. Loot system gives the game a diablisc feel.

Tons of fun, but I agree with others who mentioned the lacking loot system. oh well

I'm updating my review real quick. I love Borderlands, the FPS plus RPG elements is very well done.

The game is a little buggy, though. I have seen a few hacks on some servers, for example. I also agree about the loot system being terrible, especially if you play with random people.

I hope they add DLC or something, I think the game could be improved with more quests, and hopefully innovative ones, and they should use more variety in the areas we travel to.

Glad to see a good cel-shaded game. Best integration of FPS and RPG I've ever seen. 4 player co-op makes it even more fun to play. Looking forward to downloadable content, and a must-have for people who enjoy either or both genres of games.
