Colloquy is an open-source IRC, SILC and ICB client for Mac OS X. It uses its own chat core that is also included as part of the ChatKit project, though in the past it used Irssi as its IRC protocol engine. Its developers' goal is to offer a robust IRC, SILC and ICB experience to users while blending seamlessly with the look and feel of other Mac OS X applications. To this end, Colloquy provides a user interface that is consistent with Apple's Human interface guidelines in addition to traditional IRC command-line controls. Colloquy also has comprehensive support for scripting and can be automated using Applescript.

Not really the best for features but it's best for bucks. As its free.
It's a bit too much like 'IRC for Normal People' for me; I prefer a more advanced user interface and this really hides what's going on behind the scenes, it can't handle large amounts of text very well (Enjoy listening to your MacBook transform into an airplane when someone floods some ASCII in Efnet) - It's good for beginners but if you're really into IRC this is NOT the client for you!
I'm not entirely sold on the interface, but otherwise, I love Colloquy. I use it fairly often, and I haven't had any issues. If you need an OS X IRC client, you can't really go wrong with this one.
Very awesome. Using it for IRC since yesterday and I'm impressed. Looks slick, has all the options you need... just great.
I like this better than mirc on the PC
Free and simple.
Simple IRC client that blends in nicely with the mac environment. Not a fan of the emotion button in the tool bar, though. Could do with some more features, however.
my favorite irc client, very elegant and mac like.
Straightforward, no nonsense IRC client for Mac OS X. Does what it should, does it competently and reliably.
Often left humming away in the background watching IRC channels of interest.
One of the best IRC clients for Mac OS X!
Great chat client, Contains most of the features that I'd want from and IRC client and is really customisable. Could have a few improvements, such as if you close all windows, then clicking on the colloquy icon does nothing, should load the connection manager up or something.
Great app, manages to put IRC in a Mac like package, 5*
Colloquy its a iRC Client lack of features. It isn't advanced and it has a terrible interface, but it is one of the best clients for mac.
I still prefer Linkinus.
On linux I typically use xchat and on my mac i have been using irssi. The only think this lacks to truly replace both is a good perl plugin system...<3
As far as a simple to use, easily customizable (via css for design or applescript for functionality) application, this is by far the best mac app for IRC use..... although i still have a shell running an eggdrop to take care of certain tasks that apps like mirc have plugins for.. but i've yet to see anything come out that wasn't a big memory leak or ugly as sin for the mac.
totally the best irc client around, Only downside, memory usage :(
