I don't really like personal firewalls but this one seems pretty good. You
can tell it to just trust certain apps but sometimes it still needs to be
convinced to trust an app completely (there are advanced settings). It keeps
track of the parent processes so sometimes when you upgrade and the installer
launches the app, it may lose the trust settings and keep bugging you. I like
how you can set it up like IP tables in linux or just select applications to
trust. You can also quickly turn it off from the task bar if you're about to do
something that requires net access like some 'check for updates' programs need
to have the firewall off.
