I'm a Conduit user - I have to agree that most toolbars are poor, but there
are exceptions. I don't agree that these toolbars change your home page - your
home page stays as is, and you have full control over what can be changed and
what cannot. This is part of the installation process. Should you wish to
uninstall, there is a uninstaller available and once uninstalled, no trace of
the conduit software is left upon your PC.
Arguments about changing your search are poor - if you use the Google
toolbar, you will use Google search, so what's wrong with using the toolbar
search... which is powered by Google? The conduit search CAN be disabled prior
to and after installation if required.
Conduit toolbars are independently verified by TRUSTe and are safe to use.

Here's is my toolbar as an example of how the conduit platform should be implemented: http://www.streaminginternetradiotoolbar.com/
