Crystal Player

Crystal Player is a video player with an original video kernel that allows high-quality playback from any kind of video source, e.g. video files, from the internet or a network. It does not use the built-in Windows Media environment, so it has none of its limitations. Supported formats include, but not limited to: AVI, DivX, XVID, MPEG1/2, MPEG4, WMV, and Real.   I was going to go out and download Real Alternative and use Media Player Classic to listen to some stream... I think I'll give this a try instead.
