Great Tower Defense game with nice GFX. Probably the best in it's kind on the PC.
Best Tower Defense type game I know of. Got it for $5 on Steam
Defense Grid is a premium indie tower defense game. The first thing that I noticed was the top-notch voice acting of the defense computer/narrator, which was surprisngly well done with a pleasing blend of tragedy and quirky humour. The graphics are of similar high quality, and the interface is a pleasure to use. The levels present just the right learning curve and challenge, ranging from simple linear paths to wide-open spaces to multi-levelled back-looping labyrinths. Multiple goals and play modes add extensive replay value as well. If you can get this on sale it's a great deal, but even at the regular price of $20 you won't be disappointed. There is a lot of high-quality gameplay to be had here.
Gave in and bought it! To summarise this game is very addicting and just 'feels' better than all those free tower defence games.
The 3D graphics, balanced towers, variety and (especially) the announcer, who sounds sort of like Mr. Fry all make the game stand above the flashy rivals.
The steam version has a decent number of achievements, which for the most part are very easy to get when compared with ones found in TF2 - however, it is still nice to see the little things flood your recent activity.
Only cons I've found so far are that the menus can feel a bit award and that, despite all its polishing, it is just a tower defence game.
I got the game from steam for under £4, which I think is very good! But I think that deal ends this week which will push the game back up to the not-so-nice price of £14- hence the 3 stars given!
Recommended, but give the demo a go before purchasing.
Addictive game, detailed display, support 1080P, just simple fun for tower defense
