The 9th most popular system tool on Windows
Desktop Window Manager (DWM, previously Desktop Compositing Engine or DCE) is a compositing window manager, introduced with Windows Vista, that enables the Windows Aero graphical user interface and visual theme. The Desktop Window Manager requires graphics cards supporting DirectX 9.0 and Shader Model 2.0. DWM is not included with Windows Vista Starter edition. It is included with Windows Vista Home Basic edition, but with some aspects of the Windows Aero interface (such as Glass and Flip 3D) disabled. It is also included with Windows Server 2008, but requires the "Desktop Experience" feature and compatible graphics drivers to be installed.… More Edit

I don't understand how this still grabs the amount of memory it does even when I've pretty much disabled all Aero effects. Certainly confusing.
useless but cool
Never had a problem with it
не юзабильно вообще
Win (Super) + Tab
Love Win+Tab
weeeeee flying windows
Cool but totally useless
Never had a problem with it, however if it decides to it can hog up the cpu and lagg like crazy at the most un-needed times.
Most likely my computer being a bit stupid, but either way it makes it look all pretty and shiny, but not essential.
I recently Re-Activated it after having it disabled for a year. makes no difference, just makes the desktop look nice is all.
its niceee
Never had any problems with it and I have notebook with 2 GB of RAM.
I have this on and have never had any problems with running out of memory. I only have 1 gig of memory, and have had photoshop, firefox, rapidPHP, filezilla, couple explorer windows open, Digsby (IM client), and a couple other background processes open and my computer runs fine. I only have a 1.8ghz processor, so it's not like I have super computing speed. Granted it is dual core. I just think you don't know how to manage your memory. I've also disabled lots of system services that I don't use, like print spooler, ready boost, and other crap like that.
This is Windows Aero.. Egnough Said.. As other users point out Linux distros can do this sort of stuff too...
Pretty but there is much better graphics and effects on Linux (ie. Compiz)
I think, most people think that DWM is only new thing in Vista. It's nice but not necessary.
