Digsby is great because it offers some unique and cool features (multitask
support, social network support, ...) and you can fully customize the look to
feed all your needs.
There is a big downside tough which user before me already mentioned.
Installer comes with a lot of bloatware and it's just bad that you need to
give them the password for all your IM / social network accounts.
It lost interest in this program when they started adding all the extra items
that try to install upon installation.
And the fact that it users your spare CPU cycles to do some unknown
research, even thought it can be turned off it is still sneaky and just not a
good practice for a company to adopt.
It lost me.
A feature I miss is that it keeps all of your history online so that no
matter what if I am using my laptop or my desktop they both have the same
history (now I don't use this program any more so this feature doesn't matter to
me)

The UI combining IM & social networks is very functional indeed, but the
massive 71.8 MB (75,382,784 bytes) installation footprint is ridiculous! Yahoo!
Messenger takes up 27.8 MB (29,241,344 bytes) & Pidgin needs 32.3 MB
(33,951,744 bytes) disk space.
It's too bad Digsby chose to be so sneaky about the research module. Yes, you
could find it.. but who was looking? Its well known that users do not read the
terms of service and is not considered acceptable to hide important information
in them. As much as I liked the program, I cannot support developers who act in
such a way. Pidgin may not look quite as nice, but it will do.
This has the best features and U.I. for me being able to update twitter and
Facebook all from the same client that checks my email and sends My AOL and
Gtalk IMs is awesome. Updates have lessened the amount of ram it uses and has
never been a problems for me and the cpu usage thing has never affected me nor
was it even on when I checked it. I switched from trillian which I liked the old
version this just gave me more and while the astra version of trillian has many
more features the U.I. is cluttered so I'm sticking with Digsby. If it weren't
for Digsby I wouldn't even use twitter.
"The popular Digsby instant messenger client not only bundles half a
dozen "optional" crapware applications, it's also using your computer
to crawl the web, do stock market research, and more. It's time to
uninstall."
Just make sure you don't install the spyware.

Must have, super valuable tool.
I've tested all multiprotocol IM clients and Digsby is the best. Only thing i'm missing is Skype chat.

No no no... No WAY!
It's not unique to pay so much for it. And I don't mean money.

As a response to that link to the article of Lifehacker, which completely went off into a rant: http://blog.digsby.com/archives/693
I'll still be using Digsby for quite a while.
