In Mac OS X the Dock is used as a repository for any program or file in the operating system. It can hold any number of items, and resizes them dynamically to fit while using magnification to clarify smaller resized items. It can be placed on the left, right, or default bottom edge of the screen to accommodate the user.

Can't wait to get my hands on Dock 10.5
It's hard to imagine life without the dock...It's like a suped-up Taskbar, only without the ugly.
Gotta love the Mac OS X Dock! Nice look.
