The 594th most popular system tool on Windows

DoubleKiller searches single or multiple directories for duplicate files by comparing any combination of file name, size, modification date and content. Using user-defined masks like .mp3 or .dll you can limit the scan to files that interest you or protect important files from being scanned. Furthermore you can exclude files in a particular file size range or files with certain attributes, like hidden or system files. When the scan is finished a list containing all duplicates found is displayed and you can manually or automatically select the files to be removed. The result list can be sorted and exported to a textfile readable by both humans and spreadsheet applications. DoubleKiller is a stand-alone executable that does not need to be installed, just extracted and run, and does not alter the system in any way without the user's prior permission.

I had been looking for a replacement for the old Dupeless program, which I think was written before the invention of the scrollwheel. DoubleKiller is definitely it.

It's fast & easy to use, and checking the boxes is much faster with their option to check all first dupes, or check all last dupes (will check the last 2 in a trio of files).

It small, lightweight & portable, leaving no trace on the computer unless you check the option to save settings to the registry, and gives you an option to remove those entries if you change your mind, later.

About the only thing I don't like is how it permanently deletes files with no option of sending them to the Recycle Bin. You would actually have to pay for the Pro version if you just wanted that one feature that would make sense to include in all versions of the software.

I think people should have to pay for an option that gives them the right to shoot themselves in the foot and not the other way around. The option to delete without sending files to the Recycle Bin would have made better sense to include in the Pro version, for use by power users.
