DVD Shrink is a freeware program for Windows that facilitates backing up DVD movies. Store-bought DVDs are usually dual layer (8.5 GB), while most blank DVD media are single layer (4.7 GB), so part of DVD Shrink's functionality is to re-encode the movie in a lower quality and/or discard extra content such as foreign-language soundtracks.

a good DVD ripper
works for dvd-to-folder copying on almost all dvd's (for backup to external hdd or to burn with Nero), for the ones that wont copy, i use Slysoft AnyDVD along with DVD Shrink
