    This is you, playing DF:
Day 1. Wtf? This is rubbish.
Day 3. *returns to DF for some unknown reason*
Day 7: I love this game. *hump*
Day 28: *joins forums and posts about throwing spinning vomit and breaking the limbs of children*
Month 4: Epic. Epic. Epic. Fu, haters. This is an awesome game.
Month 12: YEESSS... THATS RIGHT... MY FORT IS 40 YEARS OLD...

And so on. In short? This game is terrible. At first. If you read the wiki, and give it a chance, it will rock your socks and take over your life.

There are linux version of the game.
Some releated information: they somehow run original .exe file, not using wine.

Dwarf Fortress is an incredibly complex game. Some people like that, others don't. Personally I like it because the possibilities are endless. However, it has a terribly complicated and inconvenient interface. But after spending a long time learning the game and the interface, it's pretty fun. It's free, so it doesn't hurt to try it out.

It's hard to describe just how awesome this game is.

It's almost like LEGO + strategy/civ game. The game gets a bad reputation for it's interface and graphics, which I have to agree is lacking.. but the gameplay truly astounds me. It's better than most retail games.

If you can get past the graphics (I recommend using one of the graphics packs to improve this a bit) and take the time to learn the complex interface, you'll see this game is really worth your time. You can't beat free for a gaming experience like this.

What the hell? I don't use this but I do use Dwarf by the Destroy team which is excellent.

I believe Wakoopa mixed the names up... I was using a program called "Dwarf" by the same people who made "Destory Twitter" I've never played this game in my life.

Incredibly addictive game. Doesn't look that way at first glance, but once you start building that fortress, there's almost nothing that can pull you away from the game.

You'll want a good machine to play it, especially if you choose to generate your own worlds, rather than use a pregenerated one. This game is deceptively resource- and CPU-intensive, and if you're running other programs at the same time, you'll probably experience lags all over the place.

All the same, try it out. It's fun.
