This is great editor for 1) testing regular expressions out and 2) editing files in different encodings & languages.
Hands down the best editor I've ever used. Love the regex support, and Jan just keeps making this app better! Granted, I no longer use this as my IDE, but for every miscellaneous task, massaging files, manipulating text or blocks, and especially creating my own custom tools (linking with Perl, Python, Ruby engines), integrated FTP and great Unix support... I just use this every day for sooo many different reasons!
I got this because I was using RegExBuddy (a quality product) and this editor interfaces with it naturally (same developer).
Both products are great. (Just wish they were a little cheaper, or came in a bundle).
RegexBuddy makes this win.
I've used a lot of different third party text editors, and I've got to give this one props. First of all, it's free, and most decent alternatives are not (Notepad++, UltraEdit, Textpad) ... It also happens to handle large text files better than any of the others, in my experience. Runs well, stable, and snappy. Lots of features, free... where can you go wrong?
Solid app, with no crap :-)
Meu editor de textos preferido para código :)
I have tried to use other text editors in the past but always ended up going back to notepad purely because it did what I wanted. This was until a co-worked showed me RegexBuddy and from there I found one of it's partner applications, Editpad Pro. The features really stand out; A tabbed document interface, syntax highlighting for a good number of file formats, extensive configuration options, etc. A great text editor!
I tried many text editor and I have been keeping on using Editpad for the last 10 years...
It is simply great both for plain text writing and programming.
It's really a secret weapon that gives me an edge over everyone else at work.
It is in the short list of softwares that I always install on any computer I use.
Every time I hear good things about a new text editor, I try it, but always go back to Editpad.
Hope it stays another 10 years!
Editpad Pro is truly the text editors Text Editor. While most text/programming editors boast a lot of the same general features, it's the details that really make each stand out. EditPad's focus is on text--and it really shines through. Particularly in the regex/find & replace department. Rather than a flimsy popup, EditPad Pro features a full "panel" that contains multiline editing space for the find and replace syntax--including syntax hilighting for regular expressions! EditPad Pro also elegantly handles multifile projects, document navigation (based on navigation schemes for different code types), syntax hilighting, ftp and snippet collections. Its native inegration/interaction with AceText and RegexBuddy reward owners of these applications with further enhanced capabilities with text snippets and regular expressions respectively.
