The 8th most popular messenger on Linux

Share
Empathy consists of a rich set of reusable instant messaging widgets, and a GNOME client using those widgets. It uses Telepathy and Nokia's Mission Control, and reuses Gossip's UI. The main goal is to permit desktop integration by providing libempathy and libempathy-gtk libraries. libempathy-gtk is a set of powerful widgets that can be embeded into any GNOME application. This packet contains the empathy IM application and account manager.

Ни разу не впечатлило: никакой полезной информации, нет возможности оперативно включать-отключать учетки, нет даже минимального, как в пиджине поиска пользователей...

    Thumbs DOWN!

It's an all right application. But lack of blocking unwanted users, sizable chat input, nulling incoming formatting, plugin manager, etc. makes me want to stay with pidgin.

A very underrated application with an impressive potential. Though many mention stability problems (specially with AIM), it works perfectly for me with jabber and msn. Even though it has a simplistic look, you can make your conversations pretty via adium themes.

With the just released a/v support on msn, this IM client will surely get very far.

There is a reason why they're replacing Pidgin with Empathy in the next release of GNOME - it has potential. Unfortunately potential does not mean it's better than pidgin now. However, I love that I can finally make calls via my GTalk account and that's why I've ditched Pidgin in favour of Empathy.

empathy is cool so far but it needs plugins man. better get that plugin support soon.

I'm moving to empathy from pidgin. It's pretty basic now, not that stable, but it looks promising. I like to see the Video Call and Audio Call for my google talk contacts.

Empathy has none of empathy on pidgin... Empathy for the win!
