Ethereal has been superceded by Wireshark (http://wireshark.org/) - it's basically the same app, but as the Ethereal project was closed down by its core developers (and there was some dispute over usage of the name, I believe) the other developers decided to continue its development under a different moniker. And, as it's opensource, they can do that no problems. :)

    So, check out Wireshark!
