The best choice for making notes.
What a great program, and it's easy to use, both localy and online...
Love it
Love it and use it on all platforms humanly possible.

I can offer you free but powerful partition management software: http://www.olvlo.com/category/free-software/disk-file-management/
Lifehacker are running a vote for best notetaking software http://lifehacker.com/399484/best-note+taking-tools
Been using Evernote for quite a while now at work and at home. Unfortunately the latest version that syncs via the cloud is not really suitable for the workplace, but I'm still a big fan and continue to use the latest version at home, and version 2 at work.
Evernote is simply the best note taking and gathering tool I have ever used.
Desite what app103 says, Evernote IS free (both v 3 and 2.2). Now also on Mac and Windows mobile. The premium version, (which is NOT free) gives you more storage pr month, but the free version is more than enough for regular user.
Evernote is really, really good. It has not yet managed to replace OneNote for all my uses but it is now my basic capture and clipping tool.
Evernote "Basic" is FREE... I use it since one year, and it save my life or my projects.
Evernote is not a bad piece of software but I switched to TheGuide because I prefer the latter's tree-structured approach to filing notes.
Despite what esorhjy said, Evernote is not free.
It's ok, but I am not that crazy about its toilet paper style interface.
I happen to think that for note taking, research, and saving web content that Surfulator is a much better application to work with.
I would suggest trying both before you decide on which to buy.
EverNote is a genius piece of software that collects and stores all of your digital data, indexing them and making them searchable.
Although Zotero is a good attempt to mimic EN, nothing can beat EN for use, functionality, and multiple interface potentials, ie., browsers and emails.
