The 2nd most popular RSS reader on Windows

FeedReader is software that allows you to read your RSS and XML syndicated news. Some websites have a RSS or XML address that show the last notices or news, FeedReader is like this application. In this way from unique software and without opening different websites you can look the last news and access to what you need. It’s fast, easy and a friendly tool. To read this type of syndicate notices you will get a list of your preferred sites and content of the same just with one click. If you access one of them, on the other frame you will be able to navigate through the website from where the notice is loaded. Its function is very simple but more than useful; you can add the selected RSS from blogs and other websites to keep yourself informed. It does not affect the performance of the system, it allows you to minimize the software into the taskbar, and when the reader receives any update from the site a pop-up will be displayed informing you about the update (windows live messenger pop-up style).

Very basic feed reader, but also with a small footprint. I'm not a friend to have everything integrated into my browser and/or mail client, so I need a separate one. That given, FeedReader is one of the best free applications for this purpose.

Just doesn't come up to snuff for me. I tried it, but in comparison to Outlook 2007, Thunderbird 2, and FeedDemon, there's really no contest. I wanted to like it, I really did, but I just can't.

Examples: Thunderbird and Outlook scroll through posts when you press Space. Feedreader? Not so much; it simply skips to the next one. In Outlook, you can select a group at a time and mark it read. Feedreader? Nope: it has groups, but they don't do a whole lot really. In FeedDemon, you can open a folder and see all the posts inside -- and read and mark them read, too, without selecting them individually. Feedreader? You have to go through the messages one by one, which is slightly slower.

None of these were deal-breakers, but together they're quite disappointing. It simply appears that the developers didn't take enough time to look at their competitors, copy their best features, and fix their flaws -- and for a program to be unable to best Thunderbird in the user interface... well, that's a pretty terrible program, I gotta say.

I used to use this a lot with Firefox, but now that I use Opera's RSS/Atom Feed I don't need this.

Close to perfect. I'm missing a few options which would have made it perfect. Sometimes it hangs when loading a page.

I like this thing -- it has a clean and efficient design; not cluttered like FeedDemon (to me, atleast).

Great News RSS Feeder has a much better interface than this program. That struck me as low-key.
