Final Cut Pro is what I use for the majority of my video-editing work, and for a long time was the program I spent most of my day in. It's fast, extremely powerful, and once you learn the basics, really easy to use. It's so much better than Adobe Premiere and Avid.

Before switching to Final Cut, I was using Pinnacle Studio 8 and 9 on a Windows machine for all of my heavy editing. Once I got Final Cut, I was able to turn my laptop, which was an older PowerBook G4, into an editing workstation, that was more powerful than the Windows machine.

I used to be a sub-contractor for a video production company that swore by Windows and Avid and dissed the Mac every chance they got.... guess what, they're now running Final Cut Studio 2 on two Mac Pro workstations and 2 MacBook Pro machines, which they purchased just after using Final Cut Pro for one day on a test machine. This software really does have an impact like that. I think it's the best editing solution out there.

It's one of the better intuitive professional non-linear editing software out there. When you are an professional editor or a dedicated amateur you'll find the learning curve not so steep as it has a lot of similarity's with other editing software. I Still prefer windows based editing suites but when I work on a mac this software rox although its quite expensive!

Final Cut Pro is the most intuitive professional non-linear video editor. As mentioned by other people, the program has a steep learning curve. But once you master the keyboard shortcuts there is nothing this application can't do for you. Final Cut comes in the Final Cut Studio suite with Motion, DVD Studio Pro, Soundtrack, Compressor and Color. The whole suite only costs $999. Believe me, it is worth every penny of it. You'll need a Mac though.

Outstanding NLE. I use this as part of the Apple Studio Pro and it is blindingly good. Even a non-professional like me can use this editor and get great results relatively easily.

As with any comprehensive tool, you need to climb a steep learning curve (learn the keyboard shortcuts! These will save you many hours work) but once you clear this you will find it easy to produce some amazing results.

It's simply the most intuitive professional non-linear editing software out there. As an apple product, it focus on creativity and making things easier for the user, as it should be. There is a wide range of compatible plugins and effects that can be downloaded.

Great piece of software :) some really nice easy controls and layout, things just seem to work how you would want them to. The only issue i found with it is the price...but we know how to get around some things.

Switched to this one from Adobe Premiere. I actually like FCP a bit more, but it’s very similar to me.

Very intuitive and friendly. Unlike AVID, everything works the way u think it should and everything is were u believe it would. And the same app version works for any (ANY at ALL) video format.

I'm used to it and I like it.
However, anybody working in the video industry told me to test others.
I'll make a comparison once it'll be done.

An excellent video piece of software. It's a great piece of software that makes video editing a pleasure. Unlike avid edit systems it allows you to do work with the mouse straight onto the timeline should you want this.
It also gives those who are used to the avid shortcuts a great keyboard based control of the application.

Coupled with the full FinalCut studio 2 suite it's an excellent, affordable tool for freelance video editors.
