Final Cut Pro is what I use for the majority of my video-editing work, and
for a long time was the program I spent most of my day in. It's fast, extremely
powerful, and once you learn the basics, really easy to use. It's so much
better than Adobe Premiere and Avid.
Before switching to Final Cut, I was using Pinnacle Studio 8 and 9 on a
Windows machine for all of my heavy editing. Once I got Final Cut, I was able
to turn my laptop, which was an older PowerBook G4, into an editing workstation,
that was more powerful than the Windows machine.
I used to be a sub-contractor for a video production company that swore by
Windows and Avid and dissed the Mac every chance they got.... guess what,
they're now running Final Cut Studio 2 on two Mac Pro workstations and 2 MacBook
Pro machines, which they purchased just after using Final Cut Pro for one day on
a test machine. This software really does have an impact like that. I think
it's the best editing solution out there.
